Linda McCaffery with the Barton County Historical Society will present “Tough as the Prairie Sod: Women on the Plains,” on Monday, Nov. 28, at the BCHS Museum.
McCaffery, the Historical Society’s research and collections specialist, will talk about the women who ventured out onto the Great Plains. She will recount the various hardships that were endured during the early days of American settlement in the area by sharing those recorded experiences from the past.
This program is part of the Historical Society’s ongoing 150th-anniversary celebration of Great Bend’s founding in Barton County.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the program starts at 7 p.m., with light refreshments to follow. Admission for the program is $5, or free for historical society members.
