This year marks the 11th annual “Journey to Bethlehem” on Dec. 11 and 12, to be hosted by the Jetmore and Hanston United Methodist Churches with help from other area churches. The “Journey” takes visitors through first century Bethlehem to experience the original Christmas. “Travelers” meet the Wiseman, census taker, tax collector, inn keepers, elders, shepherds, and angels as they pass through the gates of Bethlehem. They will come upon a market place full of sights and sounds complete with live animals, and culminate the journey with an encounter with Mary, Joseph and the Christ child.
Each year the “Journey” gets better! Since it began in the year 2000, approximately 6,600 visitors have experienced this incredible reenactment of the joy of the birth of Christ. Relax and begin your travel back in time as you share mint tea and cookies with a storyteller who will share information about the historical period and region. Then walk “Journey to Bethlehem ‘2010” and gain an even deeper understanding of the prophecies
and events surrounding Christ’s birth.
Afterwards enjoy a free will donation dinner served by the Hodgeman County business Boosters at Jetmore’s King Center located on the north end of Main Street. The proceeds will benefit a local scholarship fund.
