For three evenings in February, area Christians are invited to a conference on growing in faith in their daily lives and relationships. Prince of Peace Parish, in cooperation with the national ministries of Heart to Heart Communications, will host the series God Revives Our World (G.R.O.W.), presented by Heart to Heart founders Father Norman Douglas and Larry Vuillemin.
The conference runs from 7-8:45 p.m. nightly, starting Sunday, Feb. 9, at the St. Patrick Catholic Church, 4100 Broadway Ave., Great Bend. Admission is free and no reservations are required. Snacks will be provided.
The programs aren’t just for Catholics, said Pam Perry at Prince of Peace. The overall goal of the GROW journey is to foster within the faith community a strong sense of the spirituality of everyday, ordinary life, including that of work and relationships. Sponsors invite the public to come and be encouraged and equipped to go forth in faith, renewing God’s work in the world.
Vuillemin, an attorney in Akron, Ohio, and the Rev. Douglas started the nonprofit organization Heart to Heart Communications in 1990 to strengthen the connection between people’s faith, ethical values and daily work. They have led numerous programs in a variety of parishes and workplace settings, including nonprofit organizations such as Red Cross, Food Bank and Girl Scouts.
Each night of the conference will feature a different mission experience:
• Sunday, Feb. 9 -“Where in the World Is Our God?” Participants will look at how and where they have come to experience Jesus Christ in their lives, and in what ways they are called to open up more completely to the Lord’s loving and guiding presence to better integrate faith and values into their daily lives.
• Monday, Feb. 10 - “How in the World Do We Relate?” Explore the joys and struggles of relationships within the family, at work and in the community; discover how believers encounter and experience the love of Christ strengthening, guiding, and healing human relationships.
• Tuesday, Feb. 11- “What in the World Do We Do and How in the World Do We Make a Difference?” Participants will look at their world of activity, work and motivation, and explore how they as a whole can be a positive influence in other’s lives, at work, and in their relationships.
