chu lgp youngswedishsingerstourpic

The Young Swedish Singers, a 34-member gospel singing group from Hässleholm, Skåne, Sweden, will appear in concert at Trinity Lutheran Church, 24th and Adams, in Great Bend, at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 19. The group’s tour includes stops in Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, and Iowa, June 14-July 5.
This youth choir, founded by director Birgitta Rosland in 1991, comes from a very musical Lutheran church in the far south of Sweden.  Choir members range in age from teenagers to young adults in their early 20’s. This is their fourth US tour in ten years.
The Young Swedish Singers’ concert, sung mostly in English, will include gospel, hymns, and Swedish folk music.  The choir is directed by Birgitta Rosland, and the choir’s pastor, Rev. Bo Johansson, will  travel with the choir, providing spiritual guidance to the tour.
The choir will be hosted by approximately 300 families during their 2 ½-week tour. They will sing for two Scandinavian festivals—one at the Midsummer Festival in Lindsborg, Kansas and the other at the Scandinavian Festival in Estes Park, Colorado. They spend two nights at the famous YMCA Camp of the Rockies in Estes Park.
Choir members have raised funds to cover not only their airfare to the US, but their bus transportation for their entire tour.  All offering and CD income received during the tour will benefit Shepherd’s Canyon Retreat, a non-profit ministry providing counseling retreats for clergy and their spouses:  www.ShepherdsCanyonRetreat.org.
The Young Swedish Singers concert will be enjoyed by youth and adults. Youth and adult choir members will be impressed with the incredible quality of the choir’s voices and music.
