Safe and Secure Schools Grant buys more cameras

Great Bend USD 428 has again received a Safe and Secure Schools grants from the Kansas State Department of Education. This year’s grant in the amount of $41,593 will be used for security cameras and other security measures in the school.

Contributions and grant submissions were approved by the school board when it met Monday. The list also included:

• Kroger Rewards incentive contributions of $448.15 for Lincoln Elementary and $240.86 for Riley Elementary

• A $30,000 grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation for Driver Education Reimbursement.

• $400 from the Lincoln PTO so that school can purchase a Vivi wireless HDMI box.

• $500 from Great Bend Rotary to pay motivational speaker Bill Cordes to speak at Freshman Orientation. The request was made by Kathy Davis.

• $500 from the Central Kansas Library System as the School Library Service Allotment to USD 428. The amount will be divided among each building with a library.
