The election season is coming fast. To prepare, the League of Women Voters of Great Bend- Barton County is partnering with the Great Bend Senior Center and the Chamber of Commerce. The team is arranging a platform for contested races for the Aug. 6, Primary election. Both forums will take place at the Great Bend Senior Center on 2005 Kansas Ave. in Great Bend. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the forums will start at 7 p.m. 

July 18th is the date for the Barton County candidates’ forum. Eight candidates are running for four positions: County Clerk, County  Register of Deeds, City Counsel/Ward 1, and the Ellinwood Hospital District. 

July 25th is the date for the Federal/State candidates’ forum. Twelve candidates are running for five positions:  Congress/District 1, State Senate/District 33, State House of Representatives/District 112 & District 113, and District Judge/District 20.

The public is welcome to attend, listen to the candidates’ responses to pre-determined questions, and visit with them when the questions are concluded. Light refreshments will be served.
