School board to allocate Title funds, buy Chromebooks

The Great Bend USD 428 Board of Education will be asked to approve more than $1 million in state and federal program allocations when it meets at 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, at the District Education Center, 201 South Patton Road.

The Local Consolidated Plan (LCP) allocation is approved annually for Title I Improving Education Programs, Title II A Supporting Effective Instruction, Title III English Learner and Immigrant Programs, Title IVA Grants for Student Support/Academic Enrichment, and Title I Part C Migrant. The 2020-2021 LCP amounts total $1,084,192, compared to last year’s total $1,105,916.

Other items on the agenda include approving the Title VI B and Early Childhood Flow-Through budget application, which covers the salaries for licensed special education staff salaries, approving the purchase of 850 Chromebooks, and honoring fourth-grade teacher Dorothy Leidig, the USD 428 Horizon Award recipient for 2021.
