School board looks at new GBHS classes

The Great Bend USD 428 Board of Education will look at proposed changes in the Great Bend High School curriculum when it meets at 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at the District Education Center, 201 South Patton Road. GBHS Principal Tim Friess will present Curriculum Steering Committee recommendations for 2020-2021. These include:

• Including the Healthy Living standards in Physical Education I for freshmen and sophomore students.

• A Medical Interventions course will be added to the Biomedical Pathway program of studies.

• English teacher Kim Heath will be approved to teach Public Speaking for concurrent credit with Barton Community College.

Also Monday, the board will recognize Great Bend High School bands for recent honors, choose a representative to sit on the Great Bend Recreation Commission Board and announce a Community Feedback Meeting to be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the Great Bend Middle School Commons.
