BARTON COUNTY – The Barton County Sheriff’s Office is in the midst of negotiations with an armed man south of Great Bend in hopes of convincing him to surrender, Sheriff Brian Bellendir said Monday night. As of 7:50 p.m. Monday, the talks were still on going.

According to Bellendir, the standoff is taking place one and half miles east of U.S. 281 on SE 20 Road (the Two Mile Blacktop). The man is wanted on warrants.
