Kick off summer by taking a wreath-making class during the Kansas Wetlands Education Center’s “Gifts from the Garden” classes. “Summer Wreaths” is one of three monthly classes, focused on creative ways of combining plants and art. Participants must be age 16 and older. Class sizes are limited, with pre-registration required by calling KWEC’s toll-free number, 877-243-9268. All classes run from 2 to 4 p.m. There is a $10 fee to cover supply costs for each class, which must be prepaid by the registration date.

The series starts June 20 with “Summer Wreaths,” creating a wreath using flowers dried and collected from the KWEC garden and surrounding area. Flower drying methods will also be discussed. Register by Monday, June 14.

Design a one-of-a-kind floral print using ultra-violet, light-sensitive paints during the “Sun Prints” class on July 11. Register by July 6.

Back by popular demand, an “Eco Printing” class will be held Aug. 22. Participants will learn the process to transfer leaf tannins and floral pigments to watercolor paper and silk scarves. Register by Aug. 16.
