Traffic stop leads to drug arrest

HOISINGTON – A traffic stop in Hoisington Saturday evening netted a drug bust, according to the Hoisington Police Department.

At about 5:05 p.m. Saturday, an officer from the HPD conducted a traffic stop on a black 1999 Oldsmubile-Alero for a traffic offense in the 500 block of North Main Street. During the course of the traffic stop, the driver identified as Robert Alan-David Swtnford, white male, 51, of Medicine Lodge, was taken into custody for not having a valid drivers license, the HPD reported. After a search of the Alero was completed approximately 104 grams of methamphetamine and one gram of cocaine was located and seized.

Swinford was booked into the Barton County Jail for the requested charges of driving while suspended, possession of controlled substance, possession of controlled substance with the intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia and no tax stamp.
