I am announcing my candidacy for council person to serve Great Bend in the First Ward. I have spent the last three decades serving the community through the Great Bend Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development, a volunteer for the 3-I Show and our Great Bend Farm
and Ranch Expo.
Throughout the years, I have served on the Panther Booster Club Board, Cougar Booster Board a Chamber ambassador, a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and I am currently the President of the Stoneridge Ladies Golf Association. I am a member of the First Presbyterian Church where I serve as a mentor for the prayer tree, an usher and a lay reader.
As a 47 year resident of Great Bend, I came to the community with my late husband, Bill, and have worked my adult life in Great Bend. We have two children, a son, Layne and daughter, Darci, who are both graduates of Great Bend High School. We have three granddaughters and one great granddaughter. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from National American University.
I have learned a great deal about the community and people through service in various capacities. Great Bend is a choice city to raise a family with excellent education opportunities and a small town “help thy neighbor” atmosphere. I see the city council as being an integral part of community growth through governmental relationships and funding assistance.
My husband Bill loved the city as I also do and I look forward to following in his footsteps by serving the voters as council person of the first ward.
