Barton Community College needs volunteers for its annual Field Operation’s Day on May 5. Volunteers participate as patients or bystanders in realistic training scenarios for Barton EMS, Criminal Justice, Nursing and Medical Assistant students. The EMS department is asking for volunteers to sign up by April 16 to help estimate food and other needed resources. Volunteers of all ages are welcome and encouraged; lunch will be provided. Those interested in signing up can visit ems.bartonccc.edu.
During Field Ops Day, volunteers will participate in various EMS calls, walk-in emergency room, doctor’s office and law enforcement scenarios. Volunteers can sign up for all-day, half-day or specific times. Those volunteering all day or in the first-half of the day are to arrive by 7:30 a.m. The event is estimated to end by 5 p.m.
“This is an excellent opportunity to see what these occupations provide to their communities, hospitals and law enforcement agencies,” Barton EMS Education Specialist Jennifer Ladd said. “If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. Without volunteers, this event would not be possible!”
Those who have questions or are wanting to sign up after April 16 can contact Ladd at LaddJ@bartonccc.edu.
