In Barton County, showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 4 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. North wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.

Friday night, a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 9 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 52. North wind 8 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. 

A strong cold front will blow through western and central Kansas Friday afternoon and evening. Thunderstorms are expected along the front, mainly east of Highway 83. Stronger storms will be capable of producing heavy rain, quarter size hail and wind gusts to 60 mph. Flash flooding may be possible along US 281. Behind the front, north winds will be gusting to around 40 mph for a period of time late this afternoon and evening.
