At the Nov. 13 Great Bend USD 428 Board of Education meeting, Board President Jacquie Disque suggested polling parents to see how they would feel about changing the longstanding tradition of holding commencement at 5 p.m. on a Sunday. In 2024, it’s on May 12, which is also Mother’s Day.
Disque wondered if a Saturday program or one earlier in the day on Sunday might work better for people who travel to Great Bend to attend the ceremony.
