Woman injured when patrol vehicle runs into van

A Great Bend Police Department vehicle driven by officer Jacob A. Harlow, 28,  struck the back of a van driven Alice L. Council, 52, Great Bend, at 8:42 p.m. Saturday at 3920 10th St. Council was transported to Great Bend Regional by Great Bend EMS.


The Barton County Sheriff’s Office and Kansas Highway Patrol responded.


BCSO reports Council was in a 1998 Ford Windstar that was stopped in traffic awaiting to make a left turn into a drive in the 1000 block of McKinley. Harlow was in a 2014 Ford Explorer and was also traveling south. He was unable to stop before striking the rear of the van. Council was transported for back and neck pain. Both were wearing seat belts.
