Linda Moeder filed for Barton County Commissioner as a Republican in District 1 on Wednesday. Below is a statement she submitted:

“My husband Leonard and I moved to Beaver 23 years ago, in 1999. One of the best decisions we made was to move to Beaver in Barton County. We owned and operated “Mo’s Place Grill & BrewPub” for 15 years, retired in 2014 and sold the business. While living in southern California, we got tired of ‘corporate life’ and wanted our own business so we moved to Kansas and did just that! My husband, Leonard (aka Len/aka “Mo”), was born and raised in Hoisington and still has family in the area, so that’s how we chose Barton County. I married Len in 1997 and I have four step-children and eight step-grandchildren, all living in southern Calif.”

While in high school she joined Future Farmers of America and became interested in agriculture. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, Calif. and a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Kansas. She previously worked for DeKalb Swine Breeders in southwest Kansas; Safeway Stores Supply division at an egg processing plant as a ranch manager in Riverside, Calif.; Best Foods in Santa Fe Springs, Calif., making Skippy peanut butter and Best Foods/Hellman’s mayonnaise as a warehouse supervisor, production supervisor, and then department manager.

She is active in St. John the Evangelist Catholic church in Hoisington and a member of the parish’s Pastoral Council and Liturgy committee, as well as the Diocesan Finance Council. Linda has worked the election polling places in the county for several years and served as a Republican committee-person for Beaver township for a number of years as well.

“I’m retired, so I’m able to focus on Barton County and not be distracted by a lot of work or personal factors. I would work hard to learn and listen to problems and issues brought up by citizens. I am a conservative and practical person. I think it would be good to have someone living in the rural part of the county on the commission. I would be honored to serve and represent the citizens of northern Barton County. I would appreciate your vote on Aug. 2 and Nov. 8.”
