Camper heavily damaged in Saturday evening fire

A fifth wheel camper sustained heavy damage in a fire at Cottonwood Grove RV Park in Great Bend Saturday night.

According to Great Bend Fire Chief Luke McCormick, GBFD crews were dispatched to Cottonwood Grove RV Park at around 8:30 p.m. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire, which was believed to have started on the kitchen stove inside the camper. 

There were no injuries; however, the camper sustained heavy smoke damage. McCormick estimated the camper would be a total loss, with loss estimated around $60,000.
