Ellinwood Police arrested two individuals Sunday evening on multiple charges following the investigation of a suspicious vehicle in Ellinwood.
According to EPD Chief Chance Bailey, at about 6:35 p.m. Sunday, an EPD officer investigated a suspicious vehicle parked in the 200 block of East 2nd Street in Ellinwood. As the officer approached the vehicle, two occupants were found hiding inside it. While the officer questioned the occupants, drug paraphernalia was observed in the vehicle.
The occupants were detained and the vehicle was searched. Inside the vehicle over $3,000 in cash, three handguns, marijuana, methamphetamine, and various prescription medications and paraphernalia were located.
Sonia Alejandra Candia, 20, of Pratt, and Brandon Lee Gross, 24, of Great Bend, were arrested and transported to the Barton County Jail where they were each booked in lieu of $100,000 bond.
Candia was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of paraphernalia, criminal possession of a firearm, interference with a law enforcement officer and possession of prescription medication without a prescription. Gross was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of paraphernalia, criminal possession of a firearm, interference with a law enforcement officer, possession of prescription medication without a prescription, possession of methamphetamine and possession of counterfeit currency.
