GBPD chase nets drug arrest

A 42-year-old Great Bend man was arrested on drug charges Wednesday afternoon following a police foot chase, according to the Great Bend Police Department.

According to the report, GBPD officers observed Eduardo Torres, who was riding a bike in the area of Ninth and Williams Streets, throw something to the east side of the street. Officers advised Torres to stop but he continued to ride northbound, then jumped from the bike and ran. After he was apprehended, Torres was arrested for an outstanding Great Bend Municipal Court warrant.

Officers then located the items thrown down that included a bottle containing a substance later testing positive as methamphetamine. A weight test at GBPD indicated approximately 7 grams. The incident occurred at approximately 5:40 p.m.

Torres was arrested for the outstanding warrant, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and no drug tax stamp.
