Hoisington woman hurt when car is rear-ended

HESSTON — A Hoisington resident was injured when the car she was riding in was rear-ended at 7:38 a.m. Monday on Interstate 135, 1 mile north of Hesston in Harvey County.
Kansas Highway Patrol reports a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix was southbound in the right lane traveling slowly due to a mechanical malfunction when it was rear-ended by a 1997 Dodge Intrepid driven by Amy J. Makovec, 19, of Lincolnville. Makovec was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.
The Pontiac was driven by Chad A. Record, 45, of Wichita, who was taken to Newton Medical Center in Newton with possible injury. Passenger Sarah N. Smith-Orr, 40, of Hoisington, was taken to the medical center with undetermined injuries. It was unknown whether or not they were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
The cars were removed by E&V Towing and Auto House.
