RILEY COUNTY — A pickup crash on an icy bridge Friday afternoon in Riley County caused a chain reaction with collisions involving 10 other vehicles that could not slow or stop due to the icy bridge surface. All of the individuals involved suffered no apparent injuries except for one who suffered a suspected minor injury, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol online crash log.

The crash occurred at 4:33 p.m. Friday on K-18, 8 miles west of Manhattan. A 2000 Nissan Frontier driven by Keaton J. Lind, 22, of Everett, Washington, was westbound on K-18. The driver lost control on the icy bridge and the pickup struck bridge rails on both sides of the roadway, starting the chain reaction.

Twenty people in 11 vehicles were all wearing seat belts; eight vehicles were towed.
