Great Bend Police

Theft of a checkbook from a vehicle at 3400 17th St. was reported Wednesday.

Criminal use of a Great Bend resident’s financial card in El Paso, Texas, was reported Wednesday.

Ronald Lee Warren was driving east on 10th St. at 3:11 p.m. Wednesday and struck a vehicle driven by Helen Appel, who was turning south off of 10th onto McKinley St.

A gas skip at 1000 Main was reported at 3:21 p.m. Wednesday.

Theft of a Droid X cell phone from 1508 Main was reported Wednesday.

Barton County Sheriff

A burglary in the 1500 block of East Barton County Road and 120 Ave. was reported Wednesday afternoon, with the alleged theft of numerous motors and small antiques. A citizen reportedly followed or attempted to follow the suspect vehicle, but when they caught up it had overturned and two suspects were running on foot. They were later apprehended; Randy J. Dent and Derek J. Black, both of Great Bend, were booked into the Barton County Jail on charges of burglary and theft, with bond set at $20,000 each. Dent was also booked on charges of leaving the scene of an accident and reckless driving, with bond set at $2,500, and on an Ellsworth County warrant for probation violation, for which there is no bond.

Theft of wire off of an irrigation unit along NW 60 Road and NW 40 Ave. was reported Wednesday.

Two vehicles collided head-on in the 400 block of SW 60 Ave., a road leading to the diversion dam, at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. The drivers were injured. Additional information was not immediately available.

Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made six ambulance runs on Tuesday and four on Wednesday. There were no fires.
