Great Bend Fire Department
Firefighters made seven ambulance runs Thursday, seven Friday, eight Saturday and six Sunday.
At 1:40 p.m. Friday they were dispatched to a grass fire at 351 NW 20 Ave. Fire Chief Mike Napolitano said, “Upon arrival we found a small grass fire burning west of a house under some power lines inside a corral. (The) cause of the fire was a spark from an electrical line that had dropped onto the dry ground.”
A system malfunction caused a fire alarm to activate at 4:27 a.m. Sunday at a Great Bend office.

Barton County Sheriff
A Chevy Tahoe rolled and hit a tree on K-96 near Heizer, around 9:30 a.m. Friday. This was a non-injury accident.
Theft of 100 gallons of dyed diesel fuel from a tractor in the 1200 block of NE 140 Ave. was reported Friday.
A car hit a deer on NE 50 Road and NE 130 Ave. at 9:55 p.m. Friday.
A GMC truck hit a deer in the 200 block of North Washington Ave. at 10:03 p.m. Friday.
A vehicle was searched after a traffic stop at Fifth and Frey in Great Bend at 3 a.m. on Saturday. Suspected marijuana and paraphernalia were removed from the trunk, and John Glenn was arrested and booked into the Barton County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine and driving with a suspended license, in lieu of $25,000 bond.
A vehicle hit a deer on NW K-96 at NW 90 Ave. at 1:14 p.m. Saturday.
Theft of a white 1998 Mustang from Barton Community College, 245 NE 30 Road, allegedly occurred about five minutes before it was reported at 2:29 p.m. Saturday.
Theft of an oilfield pumping unit from the 100 block of NE 40 Ave. was reported Sunday morning. It was recovered at Acme Scrap in Great Bend.
Theft of a book from 392 North Washington Ave. was reported Sunday.
A vehicle hit a deer 2.5 miles north of Odin, on NE 90 Ave. and NE 160 Road, at 4:07 p.m. Sunday.
Kansas Highway Patrol responded when a Toyota and a Durango collided on NE 40 Road and NE 40 Ave. at 9:33 p.m. Sunday. One driver had a bump to his head but refused medical treatment at the scene.

Great Bend Police
A known person allegedly stole items from the store at 3503 10th St. on Friday and was served a notice to appear in municipal court.
Theft of a cash box from the office at 3509 Forest Ave. was reported Friday.
A known person allegedly used a debit card without permission at five businesses in Great Bend, it was reported Friday. The suspect reported that the alleged victim had threatened to kill her. While investigating the criminal threat report, an officer found a smoking pipe and syringes at the woman’s residence and collected the items as evidence.
A hit-and-run vehicle struck a vehicle in the parking lot at 5320 10th St. on Friday.
A $60 gas skip was reported at 7:46 p.m. Friday at 1315 10th St.
An unknown male and female reportedly cut two tires on a pickup at 209 Hickory St. at 3:14 a.m. Saturday.
Someone scratched a pickup and damaged two tires at 1305 Cherry Pl., it was reported Saturday.
A Great Bend resident reported someone using his credit card in another state.
A vehicle driven by Betty Edman backed into a postal van at 2400 Zarah Drive around 4:48 p.m. Saturday.
A known person was issued notices to appear in municipal court after he allegedly damaged a door and two vehicles at 906 Jefferson St.
A vehicle driven by Jason Steiner was eastbound on Broadway Ave. changing lanes at 6:34 p.m. Saturday and struck an eastbound vehicle driven by Nicholas Witt.
A vehicle driven by Tessla Stark backed into a parked vehicle at 1818 Adams St. at 8:17 p.m. Saturday.
A vehicle driven by Molly Brewer was eastbound in the 3300 block of 10th St. at 4:49 p.m. Sunday and rear-ended a vehicle driven by Tomas Alverado, who was stopped at the light.
Someone broke the rear window on a car at 1307 Jefferson St., it was reported Sunday.
A vehicle driven by Darrin DeWitt was northbound on McKinley St. at 9:52 p.m. Sunday and struck a vehicle driven by Ryan Lang, who was southbound on McKinley making a left turn onto 10th St.
