Great Bend Fire Department
Firefighters made seven ambulance runs on Wednesday.
At 1:44 p.m. they responded to a stubble field fire at 214 SW 40 Ave. Chief Mike Napolitano said the high wind and dry condition caused the fire to cross the road and get into some trees and close to a house. Crews spent three hours extinguishing the fire.

Two tires were reportedly slashed at 57 Karen St. between 2 and 7:35 a.m. Wednesday.
Great Bend Police
A vehicle driven by Mary Malone was northbound in the alley at 3109 12th St. at 10:53 a.m. Wednesday and struck a vehicle driven by Marie Delgadillo, who was eastbound on 12th.
Theft of a porch swing from 2701 Gano St. was reported Wednesday.
A sex offense was reported Wednesday afternoon.
An identity theft case was reported.
A hit-and-run vehicle struck a Ford Excursion on 18th St., it was reported Wednesday evening.
Someone threw something at a vehicle at 4107 10th St. and broke the window, it was reported late Wednesday.
At 12:06 a.m. Thursday, a man reported his neighbor possibly yelling at him, and at 1:17 a.m. a stranger knocked on a Great Bend resident’s door and said he was looking for his girlfriend.
Kansas Highway Patrol
Christy Diane Marie Jones, 36, of Joplin, Mo., was taken to Great Bend Regional Hospital on Wednesday after a one-vehicle accident on K-19, 14 miles south of Great Bend and 3.5 miles west in Stafford County. Jones was driving east in a Ford truck and dropped a right-side tire on the shoulder at 6:14 p.m. She lost control of the truck and it slid into the north ditch and rolled 1.5 times, coming to rest on its roof. She was wearing a seat belt.
