Barton County Sheriff

A security guard at Barton Community College reported finding a City of Nickerson bag that said "Inspector" on it in a room. Deputies contacted Kyle W. Smith, who lived in the dorm room, at 3:48 a.m. Thursday and found suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia, a prescription bottle of pills and a City of Nickerson inspector badge. Smith was arrested and booked into the Barton County Jail on charges of unlawfully obtaining a prescription drug, and for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was released later that day after posting a $5,000 surety bond.

Daniel Koehn was arrested around 11:18 p.m. Thursday on a charge of aggravated battery following a domestic incident at a residence in the county. An ambulance was dispatched for a victim who had been beaten and suffered from face injuries.

 

Great Bend Police

Thursday reports:

There was a burglary at Stutzman Greenhouse, 4587 10th St.

Cash was taken during a burglary at 2121 U.S. 281.

Paul Maier was driving east on 10th St. at 11:24 a.m. and struck a vehicle driven by Roy Ford that was stopped in traffic.

A dog was taken from a vehicle at 3120 10th St. No. 100.

Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made nine ambulance runs on Thursday. There were no fires.
