Great Bend Fire Department
Great Bend firefighters responded to a structure fire at 1523 12th St. at 9:20 a.m. Saturday. Chief Mike Napolitano said they arrived to find light smoke coming from fire in the attic area. The cause of the fire was electrical and the damage was estimated at $9,500.
At 10:40 p.m. they were dispatched to a home in Heizer for a propane tank leak.
Firefighters made 12 ambulance runs on Friday, seven Saturday and six Sunday.

Other fires
Hoisington Fire Department responded to a fire at the Burn Site, 150 NE 100 Road, at 4 p.m. Friday, after compost ignited.

Barton County Sheriff
A broken window on a home at 3800 Railroad Ave., Great Bend, was discovered Friday.
A vehicle hit a deer at 971 West U.S. 56 at 12:16 a.m. Sunday.
A vehicle reported stolen from Great Bend was recovered at 2 p.m. Sunday on NW 20 Ave. and 24th St.
The alleged theft of items, including silver coins, from an abandoned house on NE 190 Road, occurred several months of weeks ago and was reported Sunday.

Great Bend Police
An employee at the Baltzell Motel, 705 10th St. reported finding blood in a room Friday morning. The 26-year-old male who had rented the room was contacted by telephone and said two unknown men had battered him and took his medication.
A vehicle driven by Terry Ewing was backing up in the 1000 block of Madison St. at 2:12 p.m. Friday and struck Billie Symank with the car door. Symank was transported to Great Bend Regional Hospital with minor injuries.
Theft of a blue, 20-inch boys bicycle from 2501 Cheyenne Dr. was reported Friday. Loss was $150.
Theft of a black flatbed trailer from behind 3908 10th St. was reported Friday.
Someone used a Great Bend resident’s debit card in Florida and Georgia without permission, it was reported Friday.
A vehicle driven by Nathan Hillegeist was eastbound on 12th St. at 9:26 p.m. Friday and struck a parked vehicle.
A vehicle driven by Taylor Frack was backing in the 1600 block of Morton St. at 9:38 p.m. Friday and struck a parked vehicle.
Vehicles driven by Doug Mededith and Billy Love collided at 18th and Baker at 2:15 p.m. Saturday. Both drivers reportedly received minor injuries but refused treatment.
A cruelty to animals case was taken Sunday after it was reported that a dog had been shot with a pellet gun in the 2900 block of Lakin Ave. on April 22.
