Man sees burglars take his TV

A resident at 1416 Eighth St. in Great Bend called 911 at 1:53 a.m. Sunday, reporting he was just getting home and saw two people stealing items from his house. It appeared they had broken in the back door. The reporting party said two people ran with the television when they saw him; he was unable to get a description.

 

Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made five ambulance runs on Friday, 10 Saturday and six Sunday.

At 1:34 p.m. Friday, they responded to a field fire at 350 SW 50 Road.

A fire in the clothes drier at 1801 Hubbard St. was reported at 7:15 p.m. Friday.

Landscaping mulch next to the drive-through at McDonald’s was burning at 2:05 p.m. Saturday.

 

Barton County Sheriff

An individual reportedly threw a chair in the Treasurer’s Office of the Barton County Courthouse Friday afternoon, and then left. That person returned and spoke to a law enforcement officer.

The Barton County Sheriff’s Office "Daily Calls for Service Log" shows an injury accident in the 600 block of East Barton County Road was reported at 12:23 a.m. Monday. Ellinwood Ambulance responded, and Kansas Highway Patrol worked the accident. KHP’s Online Crash Logs do not show an injury accident for Monday, however.

 

Great Bend Police

Theft of a DVR from a Hoisington address was reported Friday; the reporting party was referred to the Hoisington Police Department.

A $35.08 gas skip from 2716 10th St. was reported at 9:33 a.m. Friday. Another gas skip at this address was reported at 9:36 p.m.

Eighteen solar lights were stolen from the yard at 2404 17th St., it was reported Saturday morning. Loss was $181. Three solar lights were also reported stolen from the yard at 3114 16th St. Loss in that case was $30.

A $20.07 gas skip at 3907 Broadway Ave. was reported at 3:13 p.m. Saturday. The suspect vehicle was a black Ford pickup. At 3:17 p.m. Sunday, a blue Pontiac reportedly drove off from this address without paying for $51.96 worth of gas.

A Great Bend resident called the police Sunday night after finding a 50-inch flat screen TV that did not belong there hidden in a basement closet. The occupant believed the television was brought in by a family member the night before, and that it may have been stolen. It was taken as "found property."
