Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made six ambulance runs on Thursday. There were no fires.

 

Great Bend Police

Thursday reports:

A tag was stolen from a motorcycle in the 700 block of Odell Street.

An employee at the post office reported receiving two fake postal money orders.

A woman reported her house key being taken off her key ring at Becker Tire & Treading, 904 Washington St. Loss was $2.

A fire pit, barbecue grill and tools were stolen from the back yard at 1217 Madison St. Loss was $225, but later it was discovered more items were missing.

 

Barton County Sheriff

A Jeep was burglarized at East U.S. 56 and NE 60 Ave., it was reported Thursday. Stereo equipment and other items were taken.

A Lyons woman was taken to Ellinwood District Hospital on Friday afternoon following a motorcycle accident at Santa Fe and Hirsch in Ellinwood. Misty D. Vasques, 27, and Larry J. Patterson from Chase were on eastbound motorcycles at 1:45 p.m., and there was also a truck in the inside eastbound lane. The truck driver signaled a move to the outside lane and Patterson, who was in front of Vasques, braked hard and laid the motorcycle down. Vasques laid her motorcycle down to avoid the first bike, and she sustained undetermined injuries.

 

Kansas Highway Patrol

Courtney Renee Gunter, 19, from Wichita, was involved in a one-car accident at 2:20 p.m. Thursday in Ellsworth County. Gunter’s Chevy Cavalier was eastbound on K-140, about five miles wests of Brookville, and looked down at the smart phone she was using for navigation purposes. The car went off the roadway and the driver lost control; the car traveled back on and off the road and overturned. She was taken to Via Christi’s St. Francis Hospital in Wichita with undetermined injuries. The driver was wearing a seat belt.
