Great Bend Fire/EMS
Firefighters made six ambulance runs on Friday, 11 on Saturday and six on Sunday. There were two fire calls. On Friday at 12:18 p.m. units responded to hay bales on fire at 540 SW 50th Ave. Upon arrival units found a pile of hay that had been ignited during grinding operations. It is believed a bearing went out on the grinder and caught the hay on fire. The fire was extinguished with the help of the front-end loader moving the pile of hay around.
On Sunday at 7:29 p.m. units responded to a fire on the river between Fry Street and Heizer Street. Upon arrival units found logs and trees on fire. Units were on the scene for 2 hours extinguishing the fire.
