Great Bend Fire/EMS
A 2002 Mercury Mountaineer owned by Harold Winters caught on fire Tuesday. Firefighters responded to 21st and Hubbard at 3:11 p.m. Fire Chief Mike Napolitano said the fire started in the engine compartment and the vehicle sustained heavy damage.
At 12:09 a.m. Wednesday they responded to a report of a grass fire at 5936 Eisenhower. It was a small fire and was out when firefighters arrived.
There were five ambulance runs on Tuesday.

Kansas Highway Patrol
Roger B. Schmidt, 46, from Russell was injured Tuesday night while fleeing from a Concordia police vehicle on a motorcycle. The pursuit occurred at 10:30 p.m. in Cloud County, half a mile west of K-9 on Noble Road, 3 miles south and 4 miles west of Concordia. Schmidt crossed K-9 onto a dirt road and crashed. He was taken to Cloud County Health Center with undetermined injuries.

Great Bend Police
Theft of an iPod from 2303 Main St. was reported Tuesday.
A subject reported that a known person pulled a knife and tried to cut him, around 11 p.m. Tuesday at 2129 Morton St. The suspect left and police were attempting to locate him.

Barton County Sheriff
A Chevy Silverado hit a deer on K-156 at NE 90 Ave. around 1 a.m. Tuesday, according to the driver, who reported the accident later in the morning.
At 8:20 a.m. Tuesday, a motorist reported missing the last curve on North Susank Blacktop and NE 230 Road around 10:30 p.m. Monday, hitting two signs and damaging the vehicle. It was determined this occurred in Russell County.
