Barton County Sheriff
At 8 a.m. on Wednesday, a deer was caught in a barbed wire fence on SE 20 Road near SE 70 Ave. It was severely injured and had to be put down.
A tractor-trailer hit a utility pole at SW 30 Road and SW 90 Ave. at 4:50 p.m. Wednesday.

Great Bend Police
Someone cut the lock on a storage unit at 708 Jefferson No. 3, it was reported Wednesday.
A hit-and-run vehicle struck a vehicle in the 1200 block of Jefferson St.
An unknown person wrote a forged check to purchase a plasma cutter at Orscheln Farm & Home, 5320 10th St., it was reported Thursday.
A forged check for $69 was reportedly written at Kwik Shop, 3907 Broadway Ave.
A forged check for $105 was reportedly written at Walgreen’s, 3920 10th St.
Another forgery was reported at Becker Tire & Treading, 904 Washington St., after someone charged items on a business account. Loss was $200.
A vehicle driven by Rosina Helsel was westbound in the 4900 block of 10th St. at 3:24 p.m. Thursday and struck a vehicle driven by Tara Jenkinson, who was also westbound.
