Thursday, Aug. 28
At 12:10 a.m. deputies checked a vehicle on the side of U.S. 281 and NE 50 Road. One suspect was detained for alleged criminal possession of a weapon.
At 11:09 a.m. BCSO received a call from Rice County Sheriff’s Office that a deputy had just taken a 50-year-old man from Nemacolin, Pa., to the Barton County line on U.S. 56. The man had been walking on crutches for several days in Rice County and was en route to an RV camp site in Great Bend.
Lawn mowers and scrap iron were reportedly stolen from 250 SE 50 Ave., rural Ellinwood.
Seats and mounts were stolen out of a garage at 307 Cotton Dr., Great Bend, possibly in the last two to three weeks.
At 8:03 p.m. a BCSO deputy reported he would be picking up a subject and transporting to the Pawnee-Barton County line for the Larned Police Department.
At 8:32 p.m., Seth with the Golden Belt Humane Society reported dime size hail at West Barton County Road and NW 50 Ave. Barton County was under a severe thunderstorm warning and a flood warning. An estimated 2 to 3 inches of rain had fallen and 1 to 2 inches more was possible.
Theft of items from a house at 1046 NW 40 Road, Great Bend, was reported.
