Great Bend Fire/EMS

Emergency Medical Service had four ambulance calls on Friday and three on Saturday. There were no fire reports.


Great Bend Police

An injury crash was reported at 4:13 p.m. Friday at 9th and Elm. A vehicle driven by Karen Saenz was eastbound on 9th and struck a vehicle driven by Todd Turner, who was southbound on Elm St.

Theft of a registration decal was reported at 5210 10th St., Apt. 22.

Items were reportedly stolen from a residence at 1716 Hubbard St.

A theft was reported at 5305 8th St.

A dog bite was reported Saturday morning in the 2300 block of McCormick Street.

A sex offense was reported at 10:56 a.m. Sunday at a Great Bend residence.

A hit-and-run crash was reported at 8:06 p.m. Sunday after an unknown vehicle struck a stop sign at 10th and Patton Road.

GBPD K-9 Menta was sent to assist Hoisington Police Department with a traffic stop at 9:59 p.m. Sunday at East K-4 and North Pine Street.


Man located for Stafford County

The Great Bend Police Department reports Barton County Communications (911) issued an officer safety bulletin at 1:45 a.m. Saturday after Stafford County issued an Attempt To Locate (ATL) for John Winchester in reference to an aggravated battery. Winchester was reportedly traveling in a gray Volkswagen passenger car and was possibly carrying a knife. Barton County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance at 1:48 a.m. after he was located at the Kwik Shop at 2334 Main in Great Bend. Kansas Highway Patrol assisted and Winchester was arrested and transported to the Barton County Detention Center.

Sheriff Brian Bellendir said Stafford County was contacted and Winchester was released on his own recognizance.

Criminal damage to property was reported Friday at NE 30 Road and NE 140 Ave.

A non-injury crash was reported at 11:30 a.m. at 96 SW 10 Ave., Great Bend.

The theft of a fifth-wheel camper occurred last Thursday or Friday at 702 1/2 Patton Road, Great Bend.

A gunshot wound was reported at 12:11 p.m. Saturday at 518 N. Cedar St., Hoisington.

A theft was reported Sunday morning at Great Bend Feeding, 355 NW 30 Ave., Great Bend.
