Great Bend Fire Department

Lightning sparked a fire at 467 NW 20 Ave. outside Great Bend at 7:48 p.m. Tuesday. GBFD responded, and heavy rainfall had extinguished the fire.


Great Bend Police

The K-9 unit was dispatched to 17th Street and Washington Avenue at 12:03 a.m. Tuesday.

The K-9 unit was dispatched to a traffic stop in the 900 block of Harrison Street at 3:27 a.m. Tuesday.

Graffiti was reported on a building located at 705 Heizer St. at 12:34 p.m. Tuesday.

A subject reported at hole being drilled through the fuel tank of a vehicle at 3:11 p.m. Tuesday in the 3500 block of 10th Street.

Theft of personal checks was reported at 3:37 p.m. Tuesday at 2110 San Domingo St.

Criminal damage to a vehicle was reported at 2714 Broadway Ave. at 5:36 p.m. Tuesday.

A burglary not in progress was reported at 1705 Morton St. at 7:57 p.m. Tuesday.


Barton County Sheriff

A theft was reported at 2:08 p.m. Tuesday at 212 Hoisington St., Susank.

A grass fire sparked by lightning was reported at 7:54 p.m. in the 800 block of E. K-4, near the Cheyenne Bottoms overlook. The Claflin Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. No damage to structures was reported.

Two additional fire calls, reported at 564 SE 50 Road at 10:06 p.m., and 1164 SE 40 Rd. at 11:14 p.m., were referred to Stafford County, per Barton County Communications.

A burglary in progress as reported at 24 Overland Trail, Great Bend, at 6:33 p.m. Tuesday.
