Vehicle fire caused by overheated window switches

Great Bend Fire/EMS

Firefighters were dispatched to the alley behind 910 Stone St. at 11:42 a.m. Saturday. Smoke, caused by an overheated window switch, was coming from a Suburban parked behind the residence.

There was a false alarm at 8:16 p.m. Friday when something on a stove caused a smoke detector to go off in the 300 block of SW 60 Road, rural Great Bend.

Emergency Medical Service made five ambulance runs Friday, 11 Saturday and two Sunday. 


Barton County Sheriff

Theft was reported Friday at 120 Ave. and NW 190 Road.

Battery was reported at the Barton County Detention Center.

An injury-crash was reported at 4:27 p.m. Saturday at East Barton County Road and East U.S. 56, Great Bend. The Great Bend Police Department assisted with traffic control. Updated information: Two vehicles collided as one was turning into Kiowa Kitchen off U.S. 56; no one was injured.

A traffic stop was made at 10:17 p.m. Saturday at Broadway and Stone, Great Bend. GBPD K-9 Lazar was deployed.

Officers responded to a domestic call at 3:33 a.m. Sunday in Hoisington.


Great Bend Police Department

Police responded to a domestic call at 5:46 a.m. Friday in the 1100 block of Holland. Jose Villegas was arrested for allegedly punching a woman in the eye and nose. He was booked into the county jail and released after posting a $1,000 surety bond.

A disturbance was reported at 8:58 a.m. at Pathways Rescare, 2327 Washington, where a client was being disruptive. Augustine Estrella was arrested for aggravated assault and booked into the county jail in lieu of $20,000 bond.

A juvenile was reported for stealing items from Presto-Circle K, 2337 Washington and was served a notice to appear.

Jordan Trevino was arrested at 1:13 p.m. at 1026 Madison St. on a Great Bend Municipal Court warrant and narcotics violation. He was booked in lieu of $250 bond for the municipal warrant and $10,000 bond for possession of a controlled substance.

Non-injury crashes were reported at 3:34 p.m. at 10th and Williams and at 3:45 p.m. at 11th and Holland.

An individual reported his vehicle was keyed at Dillons #51, 4107 10th St.

GBPD made an outside agency assist at 5:05 p.m. in the 100 block of East First Street in Hoisington.

A non-injury crash was reported at 9:37 p.m. at 5930 Eisenhower Court.

K-9 officer Lazar was used on a traffic stop at 2:17 a.m. Saturday at 17th and Washington.

Someone damaged the back window of a vehicle at 1400 Tyler St.

A known person allegedly damaged a vehicle and violated a protection from abuse order in the 1100 block of Morton Street.

Criminal damaged to a food truck at 1432 10th St. was reported.

A domestic battery was reported at 12:30 p.m. Sunday in an apartment in the 800 block of Grant Street. Dalton Miller was arrested and booked in lieu of $1,000 bond.

A wallet was found in a trash bin at the Buff Car Wash on Sunday. It was booked into evidence as found property.

On Sunday a female reported a subject assaulting her the previous day in the 2700 block of 19th St.

Checks were reportedly stolen from 2501 Lakin Ave.

Criminal damage to property by a juvenile was reported.

Theft of medication was reported at 2710 19th St.
