A 25-year-year old Great Bend man was arrested Saturday night after a traffic stop led to the discovery of suspected narcotics.

According to Barton County Sheriff Brian Bellendir, at around 8 p.m. on June 26, BCSO deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 2500 block of 24th St., two blocks from Jefferson Elementary School in Great Bend, for an equipment violation. During the course of the investigation deputies discovered approximately one ounce of suspected methamphetamine.

The driver, Richard Lee Fletcher Jr., 25, was arrested at the scene. He was transported to the Barton County Jail without incident and was booked on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while revoked.

He is currently being held in the Barton County Jail in lieu of a $300,000 bond.
