Great Bend Police Chief Steve Haulmark reported that by checking on a suspicious vehicle on Saturday, officers arrested three individuals charges that included possession of methamphetamine.
At approximately 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 2, an officer observed a vehicle traveling in the area of 8th and Washington St., Haulmark said. The officer observed the driver of the vehicle to be Mark Miller, age 51, who the officer recognized and knew to have a suspended driver’s license.
The officer watched as the vehicle parked behind a closed business in the 2500 block of 10th St.
“A female passenger exited the vehicle, and began walking away as soon as the officer got behind the vehicle,” Haulmark stated in a news release issued Wednesday evening. “K9 Menta was deployed for a free-air sniff of the vehicle, and indicated to the presence of illegal narcotics.”
The female passenger who left the vehicle, identified as Davina Demoret, 34, was located and detained, as well as another passenger, identified as Lisa Whiting, 56.
“A search of the vehicle was conducted, and methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and a pair of brass knuckles were located. All three individuals were placed under arrest, and booked in lieu of $10,000 bond at the Barton County Jail.”
