Traffic stop Saturday leads to arrest

Great Bend Police arrested a Great Bend woman after a traffic stop just before midnight Saturday night led to the discovery of suspected narcotics.

Accoarding to a GBPD release, at 11:45 p.m. Saturday, a GBPD officer conducted a traffic stop on a 1997 Mercury passenger car in the 2100 block of Washington Avenue for a traffic violation. In the course the stop, GBPD K-9 officer “Menta” was deployed, and she indicated there was an odor of an suspected illegal drug coming from inside the vehicle. 

Officers subsequently conducted a search of the vehicle, and discovered quantities of suspected methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. The driver, identified as 31-year-old Dawn Cannon, was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia and transported to the Barton County Jail and booked in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
