Two men were transported to Pawnee Valley Community Hospital in Larned on Saturday after a westbound truck rear-ended a tractor in Pawnee County.

Kansas Highway Patrol reports the crash occurred at 7:24 a.m. on U.S. 56, seven-eighths of a mile west of L Road.

A 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Burton Irvin McJunkin III, age 71, of Garfield, struck the rear of a Ford Versatile 9030 driven by Dennis Alan Smith, 72, of Larned. The truck then came to rest on the shoulder of the road.

McJunkin sustained what appeared to be serious injuries, while Smith’s injuries appeared to be minor. KHP reports McJunkin was wearing a seat belt; Smith was not.
