Two injured in Ness County crash
Kansas Highway Patrol

NESS CITY — A semi collided with a pickup Friday afternoon on U.S. 283, two miles south of Ness City. Both drivers were taken to the Ness County Hospital with suspected minor injuries and both vehicles were removed by tow trucks.

Kansas Highway Patrol reports that at 12:34 p.m., Randall D. Winter, 57, of Ness City, was in a southbound Kenworth and applied the brakes when he saw a vehicle ahead that was turning into a private drive. He lost control of the truck and trailer, which entered the northbound lane, turning sideways with the trailer jack-knifed behind the truck. Anthony J. McDonald, 27, also from Ness City, was in a northbound 2007 Chevy pickup when he saw the truck in his lane and attempted to stop. The front right corner of the pickup struck the Kenworth on the passenger side behind the third axle.

KHP reports neither driver was wearing a seat belt.
