The Internet has found an impressive family photo album.
About 26 years ago, a man and his son took a simple photo together, according to the original Imgur post of the album. The two then recreated that photo over the last quarter-century with additional pictures that show the father and son aging over time. Most notably, the pictures show the growth of the son into a man by the end of the photo series.
The only time the father and son made any modifications to the photos was in 2012, when they added a little something special to their yearly photo (seen in the slideshow below).
Family portraits like these have been known to help children establish a sense of personal identity and understand the importance of family, according to Judy Weiser, a psychologist and art therapist.
It lets children learn who they are and where they fit, Weiser said. They learn their genealogy and the uniqueness of their own family and its story. When a child sees a family portrait with them included in the photograph they say to themselves, These people have me as part of what they are; thats why I belong here. This is where I come from.'"
