When you explain something to your child, dont just speak and then walk away. Interact with them. Have your child repeat back what you said.
If they asked you a question, and you explain the answer, have them reiterate the answer back to you. This interaction helps them to really comprehend what they are learning. They are being asked to remember and repeat in their own words what is going on.

It can be hard to let your child push buttons, touch things, take things apart, and play with something, especially if it is something that can break. If you set up the ground rules that your child can explore things under your supervision, then they are less likely to do so when you are not around.
