FINDLAY, Ohio An Ohio teen went to great lengths 5.5 miles, to be exact to ask his girlfriend to prom.
Joran Fuller first met his girlfriend Claire Short two summers ago when the two began working out with their high schools cross country team, Today reported. With prom coming up in April, Fuller knew he wanted to make Short an offer she couldnt refuse.
Since running brought the pair together, Fuller decided to turn to his favorite running app for help.
Id seen on Strava some different Strava art things where in big cities cyclists would map out these big elaborate designs, Fuller told ABC News. That inspired me a little bit, but Id never seen somebody do words.
While it took some time to design, Fuller mapped a route in his town that would allow him to spell out Prom? using Stravas GPS tracking tool, according to BuzzFeed. He left school early, ran the 5.5 miles in just 45 minutes and rushed back to the school for his Grease rehearsal.
I managed to stay on course, Fuller told Today. I thought it looked pretty good.
The next day, he showed up at Shorts house with flowers and food she hadnt been feeling well and told her to check her Strava app.
Surprised and tickled by the creative promposal, Short posted a screenshot of the GPS message to Twitter, along with the phrase, But did your prom date run 5.5 miles to ask you.
Since that original tweet on March 10, thousands of strangers have fallen in love with Fullers creativity and charm. As of Tuesday night, the tweet had more than 117,000 likes and was retweeted over 16,500 times.
Strava even picked it up, retweeting on the apps official page.
You keep him honey. Hes smart and sweet, wrote one commenter. If you move on, let his promposal be the bar that all others must jump over.
I would die if someone did this for me, wrote another.
Both Fuller and Short have been bowled over by all the attention theyve received.
I was just hoping that she would like it, Fuller told Today. I dont even have social media, so the whole internet famous thing was never a consideration. I was just hoping she would think it was cool.
I had no idea it was going to get that big, Short told ABC News.
Fullers father, Tony Fuller, told ABC this is exactly the type of thing his son loves to do.
It is kind of cool that hes getting a little recognition for being a gentleman and being kind, he said. That certainly makes me proud as a father.
