J.K. Rowlings magical world expands beyond Hogwarts.

Set in a completely different country and time period than the Harry Potter movies, Rowlings upcoming movie, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, is discussed in a new YouTube video.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was a textbook that Harry Potter used at school. While I was writing Potter, I became quite interested in Newt Scamander; so I knew quite a lot about Newt, said Rowling, who is both the screenwriter and producer of the film.

The protagonist, Newt Scamander, travels around the world studying magical creatures. He refers to himself as a magi-zoologist, according to Rowling.

Newt feels more at home with creatures than he does with human beings, said Eddie Redmayne, the actor who plays the role of Scamander.

Just as Scamander begins to adjust to his new life in North America, he gets involved in an adventure when his friend opens his suitcase full of magical creatures.

My heroes are always people who feel themselves to be set apart, stigmatized or othered, Rowling said. Thats at the heart of most of what I write. Its certainly at the heart of this movie.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be released in theaters in November.
