Water line break causes service outage Friday
Water main break
Great Bend water department crews were dispatched to the intersection of Grant and Lakin Friday morning to repair a water main that had been accidentally punctured by a company boring crew working in the area.

A water main break at the Grant and Lakin intersection has resulted in service interruption in the vicinity Friday morning, according to the Great Bend Public Works Office.

Jason Cauley, Great Bend public works director, said that the boring company working in the vicinity of the intersection accidentally punctured the water main servicing the area at about 10:30 a.m. Friday morning.

City crews were dispatched immediately for repairs, Cauley said. Cauley noted that it was unknown how long it would take to repair and advised businesses and residents in the area that repairs would be finished as quickly as possible and that the intersection would be closed. He noted that Eisenhower Elementary School had been closed for the day.

Cauley apologized for any inconvenience this may cause and said he would like to thank the public for its patience.
