CLAFLIN — Anna Marie (Wondra) Oberle, 80, died March 17, 2016, at Woodhaven Care Center, Ellinwood. She was born August 11, 1935 on a farm northeast of Odin. She was the fourth child, out of ten, to be born to Alfred & Regina (Kirmer) Wondra. She attended Holy Family School at Odin and graduated from Odin High School in 1953.
After High School she did housework for many different families around the area.
On May 14, 1957, she married Paul Oberle at Holy Family Catholic Church in Odin. They lived in Claflin and had three children, Kathleen, Paul, Jr., and Karla.
When the children were all in grade school she started to work in the school lunch program, where she worked for 29 years, feeding many children. After she retired in 1999 she did much volunteering by delivering Meals on Wheels, helping at Birthday Breakfast and Senior Citizen Bingo, and was a Girl Scout Leader. She belonged to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar Society and was a church sacristan for many years. She was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Paul Oberle and three children; Kathleen Miller (Tom) of Lenexa, Paul Oberle, Jr. (Terri) of Lenexa, and Karla Fimple (Bob) of Wichita; four brothers, Bernard Wondra of Hoisington, Jerome Wondra and Ambrose Wondra both of Odin, and Norbert Wondra of Oregon; and four sisters, Mary Rose Oberle of Claflin, Leona Canfield of Great Bend, Theresa Schremmer, and Doris Morgan both of Wichita.
Her grandchildren were the love of her life, namely Jessica Gay (Nick), Ryan Miller, Kristin Fimple and a new great grandson, Trenton Gay.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Leo Wondra.
Vigil with Altar Society Rosary will be 7 p.m. Sunday, March 20, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Claflin. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2016, at the church, celebrated by Father Terrence Klein. Burial will follow in the Claflin Cemetery. Friends may call 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the funeral home.
