SUN CITY, Calif. — Arnold F. Davis, 91, passed away Oct. 2, 2014 at Sunny Rose Glen Senior Care at Menifee, Calif.
He was born Sept. 27, 1923 in rural Galatia, the son of Lena (Hester) and David Davis.
He graduated from Hoisington High School. He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. On Jan. 28, 1946, he married Marjorie Harper and they moved to Chillicothe, Mo. In 1959, they moved to California with their two sons. Marjorie passed away in 1993. In January 1994, he married Shirley Davis in Sun City, Calif. She survives.
He graduated from Chillicothe Business College and worked for Jet Propulsion Labs in Los Angeles County. He owned and operated Village Liquor, Baldwin Park, Calif.; and Santiago Liquor, Santa Ana, Calif.
Other survivors include sons, Marshall Davis, LaVerne, Calif.; Scott Davis, San Rafael, Calif.; brothers,Wayne Davis, Weatherford, Okla.; Emerson Davis, Hoisington; Albert Davis, Hoisington; a sister, Kay Ree (Davis) Johnson, Great Bend; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Geneva; and three brothers, Richard, Evan and Russell.
Funeral services are scheduled Friday at Miller-Jones Chapel, Sun City, Calif.
