Bernard L. "Hus" Huslig, 83, died Jan. 26 at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita. Born Feb. 29, 1928 in Claflin, he was the son of Leo and Mary (Boor) Huslig. On July 23, 1949 he married Donna Joan "Jo" Rose in Great Bend. She died on Oct. 22, 2006. A resident of Great Bend for most of his life, he was a lifetime oilfield worker.

Mr. Huslig was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and AA.

Survivors include two sons, David Huslig and wife Carol of Grand Junction, Colo., and Tony Huslig of Great Bend; five daughters, Diana Parks and husband David of Oberlin, Debbie Huslig of Wichita, Mary Folkerts and husband Randy of Pawnee Rock, Shelly Forster and husband Tom of Kimberling City, Mo., and Tami Dykes and husband Matt of Great Bend; three brothers, Lavern Huslig of Ellinwood, Hugo Huslig and Elmer Huslig, both of Wichita; two sisters, Marian Sandlin of Brea, Calif. and Florene Miller of Wichita; 24 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Ronnie Huslig and Donnie Huslig.

Vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. today at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend with Father Don Bedore officiating. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may visit from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to The Pancreatic Cancer Foundation or Hospice Care of Kansas, in care of the funeral home.
