Bertha A. Oliverius 1915 - 2011

LACROSSE — Bertha A. Oliverius, 95, died June 18, 2011 at the Rush County Nursing Home in LaCrosse.
She was born Nov. 29, 1915 in rural LaCrosse, the daughter of Peter and Pauline (Steckline) Schaffer. A resident of LaCrosse for more than 43 years, moving from Great Bend, she was a homemaker. On June 10, 1941, she married Frank J. Oliverius at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in LaCrosse. He died March 20, 2009.
Mrs. Oliverius was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and St. Michael’s Altar Society, both in LaCrosse; Western Fraternal Lodge Association, Timken; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3147 Ladies Auxiliary,  LaCrosse; and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Great Bend.
Survivors include a daughter, Laura Pivonka and husband James, Timken; two sisters, Esther Schuckman and Vernita Serpan, both of LaCrosse; four grandchildren, Ricky Warnken, Brenda Barrett, Lachele Greathouse and Tom Pivonka; 12 great-grandchildren, Matthew Warnken, Nicholas Warnken, Luke Warnken, Jacob Warnken, Katherine Warnken, Brandon Barrett, Brittany Barrett, Austin Greathouse, Rileigh Greathouse, Shawn Helie, Jeff Pivonka and Melanie Deterding; and four great-great-grandchildren, Brady Deterding, Brock Deterding, Johanna Helie and Vienna Helie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Pauline (Steckline) Schaffer; her husband, Frank J. Oliverius; two brothers, Robert Schaffer and Rudy Schaffer; and four sisters, Charlet Kline, Minnie Stejskal, Jenny Pozalek and Mary Herrman.
Funeral services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 21 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in LaCrosse with Father Rene Labrador officiating. Burial will be at the LaCrosse City Cemetery. Friends may visit from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. A Vigil Service and Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials are suggested to Rush County Nursing Home or St. Michael’s Catholic Church, both in LaCrosse or Hospice at the Hays Medical Center in Hays.
